Jekyll and Hyde

Everyone knows the cute little toddler who empties out each kitchen cabinet, then manages to rearrange everything so mommy cannot find anything. The cute little toddler who mimics his daddy’s every move (including computer use) and makes kissy faces when he wants to be kissed. Everyone knows the adorable little angel who puts his spaghetti covered hands in his hair and busts out into a break dance when he hears any type of music. Oh yes, that is the side of toddlerhood most people who have never been parents see. Very cute. I love the moments when I find Breckin has learned something new and is so proud of himself. Or, when he does something so cute/funny, that Jeremiah and I cannot help but laugh hysterically. It is these moments that get me through the “more difficult” days. The “my molars are coming in and nothing in this world can make me happy” days.
Hello tantrum throwing, kicking and screaming toddler! Breckin has always been a bit “vocal.” I have no idea where he got that. (Okay, maybe me) When he is uncomfortable, or down right miserable, he doesn’t hesitate to tell us all about it, over and over and over. These past few weeks have proved quite challenging for me. Breckin is cutting his molars and has been quite unhappy. My cute little angel went from sitting on a cloud to throwing tantrums, throwing food, banging his head on the floor, and refusing to be consoled in any way. Thankfully, the challenging time is wrapping up and I must say, I am so glad! During a few of Breckin’s tantrums, I had to go into another room and throw one myself. It was a challenge, but the moment the tylenol and orajel kicked in, all frustration just melted away. He was my cute angel once again and I had forgotten that tantrum that occured only moments earlier. I truly believe that is why God made babies and toddlers so dang cute.
