100 Things

On so many of my friends sites, I have read their 100 things lists and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved how it let me peek into their souls a little bit and get to know them a little bit better. I always told myself that someday, I would get around to doing a list. Well, here goes. 100 things about me.

1. I started dating my husband when I was 17. We met when we were 7 or so.
2. We have nearly nothing in common, except our worldview.
3. And the fact that we have made each other much better people.
4. Okay, we are both really stubborn too.
5. But, truly, that is it. We love our relationship and each other very much.
6. Being a parent brings out the best and worst in me.
7. I have asthma. Always have.
8. I also wear contacts/glasses.
9. My glasses prescription is -4.5. I have no idea what that means, except that I feel blind without them.
10. One of my biggest fears is that my children will also have asthma.
11. I love decorating my house for Christmas.
12. I wanted to be a doctor and did well on the MCAT.
13. Then, felt God calling me to do something else.
14. I never wanted to have kids as a teenager.
15. I thought they were annoying.
16. Now, I want 3 kids. No more, no less.
17. I want them all soon too.
18. I am currently waiting on the Lord. Somedays I am okay with that, somedays, not so much.
19. I love Diet Coke.
20. I only like coffee in the form of a frappacino.
21. My husband and I share one more trait, very, very dry humor.
22. He is one of the few who can make me laugh so hard I cry.
23. I love being a mom.
24. It is the hardest job I have ever had.
25. God has blessed me abundantly.
26. I gained much of my wisdom during my tumultuous teenage years.
27. God allowed me to experience some awful things so I could later bless others.
28. I have always loved the Lord, even from a young age.
29. But, I used to dislike religion. Sometimes I still do.
30. My favorite band is Metallica.
31. My favorite actress is Reese Witherspoon.
32. I watched a Reese Witherspoon movie both times I was in labor. Legally Blonde (a classic) and Sweet Home Alabama.
33. My favorite comedic actor is Paul Rudd.
34. My favorite TV shows are How I Met Your Mother and Ugly Betty.
35. My favorite movie……that’s a hard one. I like so many.
36. Jer and I used to go to the movies nearly every week in college.
37. I graduated from the University of Illinois.
38. My first two years of college were spent at a little place called MoBap.
39. I met one of my favorite people ever there. She is a great friend. (You know who you are)
40. I walk down the detergent isle every time to go to the store just because I LOVE the smell.
41. I believe in exercise.
42. It relaxes me (or just wears me out a lot).
43. People that make excuses as to why they don’t exercise make me crazy.
44. I LOVE to eat.
45. I watch Days of our Lives……everyday.
46. Not something I am proud of, but just true.
47. I don’t necessarily love to cook.
48. I absolutely love baking though.
49. I decorate cakes. So does my mom.
50. The first few weeks of Breckin’s life I felt very overwhelmed.
51. It is all pretty much a blur now though.
52. Breckin and I had a blast when we was a baby (once we recovered from colic)
53. I worked full time until Breckin was 8 months old.
54. Having to work truly broke my heart.
55. I got a part time job when he was 8-14 months. That was much better.
56. Then, I got to quit and become a stay at home mom.
57. It was then when I realized how hard that job is.
58. I wouldn’t trade it for any amount of money though.
59. I love that I see a lot of myself in Arwyn.
60. But, it also fuels my prayer for her everyday. :)
61. My sinful nature is stubborn, defiant, gossipy, pessimistic, anxious, selfish and ill-tempered.
62. Needless to say, I need the Lord.
63. I am still stubborn though.
64. I am also very competitive.
65. I hate playing games of any sort with Jeremiah because he always wins.
66. When I win, I gloat because it is so extremely rare.
67. I am not shy at all.
68. I talk a lot!
69. I am a rule follower. Very, very much so.
70. I even followed instructions from a book the first time I gave Breckin a bath. I was so worried I was going to do it wrong.
71. That makes me laugh now.
72. I try to have a great sense of humor about life.
73. I think most things can be laughed at.
74. I am passionate about breastfeeding.
75. I think it is one of the best things in the world.
76. I am very passionate about all natural childbirth.
77. I want to have my third baby at home.
78. But, my friend Kate would kill me.
79. I love shopping at Hy-Vee and Super Target.
80. I love teaching my kids how to bake.
81. I pray for my children and their future spouses a lot.
82. I have a degree in evolutionary biology.
83. I got that degree for the purpose of being able to defend my faith.
84. I discovered the facts of science of the Bible actually complement each other. (in my humble opinion)
85. So, I came to believe this. I have used these thoughts to bring reason to people in the scientific community who think God is a joke. I may not have brought them to Christ, but I made it seem possible to them.
86. Some people think these thoughts condemn me to hell.
87. I really don’t like it when Christians make such proclamations. They aren’t true and are very hurtful.
88. I am so humbled by Christ’s sacrifice for me.
89. I am the middle of 5 children.
90. I grew up in a very small town in rural Missouri.
91. I would never live there again, but I am very glad I came from a small town.
92. It keeps me grounded.
93. I love to read memoirs.
94. I want an eyebrow piercing but won’t get one because my husband would not like it.
95. I don’t believe in “male/female” roles in the home. (as far as duties are concerned)
96. Men who call watching after their own children “babysitting” and complain about it should be slapped.
97. I don’t believe in waiting on my husband or being his “servant.”
98. But, I do believe in respecting and submitting to my husband.
99. I see us as a team. 50/50
100. I love serving new moms in any way I can. (Seriously, I would even spend the night at your house and stay up all night with your screaming baby if that is what had to be done!)
