Miracle at Home Depot

Date March 7, 2009

Today, I went to Home Depot…twice. I am not a Home Depot sort of girl unless I am going there to pick out paint, gardening items or look at flooring that I dream will be mine someday. Aside from that, I walk around that store with a completely confused look on my face trying to find what I think I might need, but am not really sure I need, because I have absolutely no idea what I am looking for. This is what happens when Jeremiah sends me to Home Depot with a list. I imagine he feels the same when I send him to the grocery store and that is why I usually get 5 phone calls when I have sent him there for 3 items. If I send him for milk, he is good to go. But if I send him for ginger root and coconut milk, forget about it. So, yesterday, I went to Home Depot twice. I had a small list of caulk and filter for the fridge. I got the caulk, but had forgotten to write down the model number for the filter, so no filter. Went home later, wrote down the number and headed back. On my way there, Jeremiah called. He needed items to fix our dresser drawers. I typed everything he needed with complete descriptions into my IPod and went on my mission. First, drawer slides, but not just any drawer slides. Special ones. So, when the first employee asked me if he could help me (I must look completely dumbfounded when I am there because EVERYONE asks me if I need help and I ALWAYS take them up on it), I just read straight from the description. He found what I needed and I was on my way for the second item. Another man in the lumber department helped me find the lumber I needed. Then the water filter. Now that I had the number, found it! I never walk away from Home Depot with everything on my list because 90% of the time, I can’t find it. But, yesterday, I triumphed! I defeated Home Depot. It only took me two trips and 5 people helping me! :)
