Our family had a great weekend. On Saturday morning, we went to Deanna Rose Farmstead. The kids got to pet cows, feed baby goats a bottle of milk, see chickens, and play on the playground. I love taking the kids on Deanna Rose because it is free and a lot of fun for the kids. You can do almost the whole farmstead in one morning. Then we went for pizza. We had friends over for a MarioKart game night Saturday night. Arwyn actually ended up busting her lip really bad in the evening. She and her friend were running through the sprinkler outside, then got in the sand box. She was in serious need of a spray down once all was done. So, I took her to the shower to spray her off. She didn’t really want to be in the shower and while trying to climb out (I even had hold of her hand) she slipped and fell face first. So now she has a rug burn on her face (her own doing from rubbing her face on the carpet) and a busted lip. Great.

On Sunday, Breckin and I went on a date. He chose to go bowling. I was trying to get him to smile with the bowling ball in his hand, but he was too busy just trying to carry the ball. I loved hearing him say, “Mommy, this ball is heavy for me.” But he persevered and scored a 58, with bumpers. Then we went for some Sheridan’s custard. I still think it is the best custard I have ever eaten. Yum. I didn’t get pictures of the kids at Deanna Rose, but did get some of Breckin bowling.

Last week, I bought Breckin a small Luigi figurine because he LOVES Luigi and LOVES to play MarioKart. When I bought it for him, we discussed that he needed to be very responsible with the Luigi, or as he calls him “the green guy.” He couldn’t leave Luigi in the floor because Bosley would eat him. We had this discussion more than once. Well, the day after he got Luigi, he twisted his head off. I superglued it back on and again discussed with him how important it was to take care of his toys. The next day, Breckin left Luigi in the floor and Bosley mutilated Luigi. I discovered this and showed Luigi to Breckin. Breckin was upset, but promptly just said, “Let’s go to the store and get a new one.” My response, “No, that isn’t how it works.” I really want our kids to understand that new toys just don’t appear. I explained to him that Daddy worked hard for the $4 that we used to buy Luigi, so if he wanted a new Luigi, he was going to have to work hard for it and earn his money. We made a chart and discussed chores he could do to earn the $4. The first was window washing. He worked very hard to earn his first $1. Here are a few pictures of his hard work and his chart. I taped a mutilated Luigi to his chart to remind him of what happens when you aren’t responsible with your toys. As of today, he has earned $2 (he helped me vacuum yesterday) with $2 more to go.
